Home health services are generally covered by most medical insurance plans, including Medicare. Before we provide care, we will let you know if you will be responsible for any cost.
Please contact us with any insurance questions. You can also call your insurance company to verify home health benefits and to see if we are in‐network for your insurance provider.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR HOME HEALTH CARE SERVICES?
Medicare and most private insurance companies require that the following criteria be met to qualify a patient for home health care services:
- You must be an eligible Medicare or insurance beneficiary.
- One of your physicians must order and supervise the home health care services.
- You must be considered homebound, meaning it is a taxing effort for you to leave the home; you can leave the home only infrequently with the help of another person or assistive device.
- You require skilled nursing or therapy services on an intermittent (not full time) basis.
WHAT DOES MEDICARE PAY FOR?
Medicare will pay for all your home health care visits when the above criteria are met. Medicare will also pay for supplies needed for your care; however, Medicare does not pay for everything. For example, Medicare does not pay for 24‐hour care at home, meals delivered to the home, homemaker services (shopping, cleaning, laundry), or personal care services unless it is paired with skilled nursing or therapy services.
